Abstract

The genus Syrphophagus Ashmead is defined by means of a brief diagnosis and an identification key to the females of nine species known from Transcaucasia and Turkey. One new species, Syrphophagus eliavae sp. n., is described. Two species [S. arundinicola Hoffer 1965 and S. ariantes (Walker, 1837)] are recorded for the first time from Georgia (former USSR). The known hosts and distribution of all species are summarized.
